Junior Estimator – Civil Engineering | Bridgwater, Somerset | Permanent Role
We’re working with a well-established civil engineering contractor in Bridgwater who are looking to bring on a Junior Estimator to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your estimating skills on exciting civil engineering projects and build a career in a supportive, professional environment.
The Role
As a Junior Estimator, you’ll assist the estimating team in preparing competitive, accurate, and timely cost proposals for civil engineering works. You’ll work closely with senior estimators and project managers to support bid preparation and learn the ins and outs of project costing.
Key responsibilities include:

Assisting with the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
*
Quantifying materials, labour, and plant requirements from drawings and specifications
*
Supporting the compilation of bills of quantities (BOQs) and cost schedules
*
Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
*
Supporting senior estimators with risk assessments and value engineering exercises
*
Maintaining accurate records of estimating activities
What We’re Looking For
*
Some experience or education in civil engineering, construction, or quantity surveying
*
Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
*
Good organisational and communication skills
*
Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
*
Basic understanding of civil engineering methods and materials is desirable but not essential
*
MS Excel and general IT proficiency
