Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking a Junior Solicitor to join Bury Council’s Legal Services team within their Commercial Property division. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) on a hybrid basis.
The incoming Junior Solicitor will provide high-quality legal advice, support, and representation on a wide range of commercial property matters. This includes assisting with land acquisitions and disposals, lease negotiations, landlord and tenant matters, and supporting regeneration and development projects across the borough.
Main Duties
* To provide accurate and timely legal advice on commercial property matters to internal departments and stakeholders
* To manage a varied caseload including leases, licences, acquisitions, disposals, and related land transactions
* To draft and negotiate legal documentation, including agreements for lease, deeds of variation, easements, and development agreements
* To provide representation on legal work on behalf of the Council, and, where appropriate, to external bodies
* To use analytical skills to interpret information to identify legal issues, risk and other implications for clients
* To liaise and negotiate with third parties including solicitors, developers, and agents
* To ensure all work complies with statutory requirements and council policy
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal services
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of commercial property law, preferably within a public sector or local authority setting
* Experience managing your own caseload and working to deadlines with minimal supervision
* Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal research skills
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical legal advice to clients with varying levels of legal knowledge
* Proficient in using legal case management systems and standard Microsoft Office applications
