Junior Specifications Technologist / Specifications Writer
Location: East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £30,000 + Benefits
Contract: Full-time | Permanent
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Junior Specifications Technologist to join a fast-paced food manufacturing business in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
This is a great role for someone looking to develop their technical career in the food industry. You’ll support the setup, maintenance, and accuracy of customer specifications, pack copies, and artwork — ensuring all documentation meets compliance standards and launch deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
*
Support the setup and approval of customer specifications and technical data.
*
Review pack copy and artwork for compliance with retailer and legal labelling requirements.
*
Maintain and update internal specification and quality documentation.
*
Assist in developing “Gold Standard” raw material specifications.
*
Attend product launch and change meetings to stay informed of updates.
*
Support customer audits, visits, and internal compliance checks.
*
Ensure allergen, HACCP, and TACCP records are accurate and up to date.
*
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across technical systems.
About You
*
Experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
*
Confident using customer web-based specification systems.
*
Understanding of food labelling legislation and retailer requirements.
*
Food Safety Level 3 and H&S Awareness Level 2 (or equivalent).
*
Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organisational skills.
*
Enthusiastic team player with a proactive approach to learning.
