Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Preparing and cooking meals
Work with other chefs and provide support and share best practice
In partnership with colleagues’ input into the creation of new and innovative menus and products
Effective communication with general assistants to ensure meals are assembled to the required plan and standard
Advise Stores and Procurement regarding the placement of orders and ensure the right products are being purchased
Prepare and conduct Customer presentations
Effectively communicate with the Shift Manager and advise on any issues, concerns or crisis with Production or delivery
To actively support continuous improvement efficiencies within the Kitchen and across the business
Ensure internal quality assurance checks versus approved specification/recipes
To communicate, engage and develop team members to enable them to maximise their contribution to the department’s performance and create succession planning opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
* Educated to GSE or ‘O’ levels;
* Basic Food hygiene training/certification
* A recognised City & Guilds qualification or NVQ Level 2 for a Chef desirable
Work Experience:
* Significant experience of cooking Chinese food in a hotel/restaurant/airline environment.
Skills & Knowledge:
* Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment using own initiative
* Basic computer skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Accurate/detailed focused
