Hours: Up to 15 hours per week (introduced gradually)
Rate of Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications.
The primary focus initially will be on building a positive therapeutic relationship, supporting emotional regulation, and gradually re-engaging the young person with learning. English and Maths tuition will be introduced when the young person is ready, with the longer-term aim of supporting a successful transition back into mainstream education.
The Role=
- Provide a therapeutic, nurturing approach to learning.
- Deliver KS3 English and/or Maths tuition (Year 8 level).
- Support the young person to rebuild confidence and engagement in education.
- Complete baseline assessments to identify current attainment levels and learning needs.
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety.
- Work at a pace that is appropriate for the young person, with relationship-building taking priority over academic progress in the early stages.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months' experience working within education, care, or a similar support setting.
- Confidence in planning and delivering lessons in English and/or Maths at KS3 level.
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, anxiety, autism, or school avoidance is highly desirable.
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Up to 15 hours per week
