Introduction
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Laboratory Analyst to join a leading global organisation within the nutrition and healthcare sector on an initial 6-7 month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a laboratory professional with hands-on microbiology experience to join a modern, high-quality laboratory environment and support the testing and quality functions of the business.
As a Laboratory Analyst, you will carry out microbiological and chemical analysis of samples, ensuring testing is completed accurately, reliably and within agreed turnaround times.
You will work in accordance with GLP, ISO 17025:2017 and cGMP requirements, supporting high standards of laboratory quality, compliance and safety.
What We Offer

Key Responsibilities
Carry out microbiological and chemical analysis of test samples.
Prepare and perform quality control checks on culture media.
Apply good aseptic technique, including pipetting, serial dilutions, sample plating and plate reading.
Accurately record, interpret and report test results.
Prepare Certificates of Analysis where required.
Maintain high laboratory hygiene standards, including equipment and environmental cleaning and swabbing.
Perform routine calibration and performance checks on laboratory equipment.
Coordinate external calibration when required.
Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
Record, investigate and support the resolution of laboratory non-conformances and corrective actions.
Monitor laboratory consumables and maintain appropriate stock levels.
Contribute to laboratory projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
Comply with all Health & Safety requirements and ensure appropriate PPE is used.
Requirements
Minimum of 1 year's laboratory experience.
Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a science-related subject.
GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths and Science.
Practical microbiology experience.
Experience with aseptic technique, pipetting, serial dilutions, sample plating and plate reading.
Experience preparing culture media.
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Experience using LIMS and/or statistical software would be advantageous.
Strong focus on accuracy, quality and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Understanding of laboratory Health & Safety and quality requirements.
Practical, organised and detail-oriented approach.
