Job Description
Laminator Operator
Location: Corby
Salary: DOE
Company: A leading packaging manufacturer.
Role: Working in a factory environment set and operate the laminator machines and run to the highest quality standard ensuring effective output of machine achieving production targets.
* Set and operate the laminator and achieve output targets ensuring production is per the works order requirements, monitoring and making adjustments as necessary.
* Ensure quality control is maintained and carry out technical inspections and tests to check for defects and use experience and technical knowledge of the processes to problem solve throughout the shift.
* Verify, control and adjust machine settings as required within the guidelines and tolerances of the works order and production plan.
* To run the shift by planning the work to maximise efficiency and productivity according to the production plan, always with a mind on safety.
* Ensure production is maximised and cost effective, by reducing down time through effective planning ahead, this includes cutting cores, arranging all raw materials for current and following shift.
* Ensure all standard operating procedures are adhered to.
* Maintain stock levels for jobs for current and following shift, preparing materials, and palletising as necessary; participate and ensure a smooth handover between shifts.
* To be proactive in organising own workload and having a self-motivated attitude towards departmental workload.
* Train all staff to maximise department knowledge, capability and productivity.
* As Responsible Person oversee the general standard and staff within the factory ensuring Health & Safety and BRCGS rules are being adhered to at all times and report any non-conformance.
* To act as a First Aider and Fire Marshall.
* Label, wrap and strap pallets ensuring labelling is clear as per the specified sheet.
* Transfer scrap to designated bailer and empty the bailer when required.
* Ensure all production sheets are filled out correctly and accurately.
* Monitor and conduct quality checks by measuring product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation aligned to works order. Sign on the works order that the quality checks have been completed.
* Ensure samples are taken and all QC paperwork is filled out correctly.
* Participate and ensure a smooth handover between shifts.
* Ensuring the lamination area is tidy and kept in a professional manner following the highest BRCGS standards.
* Must follow and comply with all company, Health & Safety, HR and factory policies and procedures.
Requirements:
* Experience working within a packaging and/or self-adhesive labels manufacturer
* Comprehensive knowledge of the lamination process ideally within a blown film extrusion/ flexographic printing business.
* Production experience with the capability of operating high-speed modern machinery.
* Excellent technical skills.
* Basic IT skills.
* Team player.
* Clear and good communicator.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
* Management skills (coaching, mentoring, firm etc).
* First Aider.
* Fire Marshall.
