About the Role
This role is part of the Grounds Maintenance and Landscape Services team. As a Landscape Operative, you will assist the Landscape Construction Foreman in delivering agreed landscape construction programmes while maintaining a high standard, cost-effective, and customer-focused service.
You will play a crucial role in the implementation of landscape construction project plans and collaborate with clients, Council staff, the community, and stakeholders to deliver and represent Dorset Council's services.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in delivering landscape construction projects
Stand in for the Landscape Construction Foreman when required
Ensure effective and efficient service delivery
Implement landscape project plans
Work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
Promote and represent Dorset Council and its partners
Carry out any other comparable duties as requiredQualifications and Skills
Ability to work in a physically demanding role outdoors in all weather conditions
Experience using powered equipment such as chainsaws and disc cutters
Awareness and understanding of Health & Safety (including risk assessments and PPE use)
Ability to safely operate vehicles and tow trailers (on and off-road)
Experience in manual outdoor work and safe tool handling
Good communication skills and the ability to resolve disputes and handle unexpected issues
A proactive, team-oriented, and customer-focused approach
