As a Laser Operator, you will:
Set up and operate Fibre and NDYAG 5 Axis lasers to produce precision parts.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations.
Measure and visually inspect completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to manufacturing specification.
Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety procedures.
Document and report production data, including quantities, dimensions, and any deviations from specifications.Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
To thrive in this role, you should have:
Hold a recognized full level 3 apprenticeship, NVQ level 3 or Technical certificate in a relevant engineering field.
Proven experience as a Laser Operator in a manufacturing environment.
Experience operating laser cutting machinery (ideally Heidenhain for Fibre and NDYAG 5 Axis Lasers).
Experience of working with Nickel alloy materials.
Strong attention to detail and quality assurance skills
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skillsDesirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
While not mandatory, the following would be advantageous:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Knowledge of CAD software
Relevant technical qualifications or certifications
Experience with CNC machineryTechnologies:
Laser cutting machinery
CNC equipment
Quality control systems
