Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Asset Management Engineer role Reporting to Head of Engineering you will: Lead the development and implementation of the long-term engineering and maintenance strategy across a fleet of operational assets, ensuring alignment with business goals and legislative requirements. Act as the Mechanical Technical Authority, particularly for compliance with Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR), providing subject matter expertise across the business. Support and oversee complex breakdown investigations and plant reliability issues, ensuring timely resolution and long-term prevention strategies. Contribute 30-50% of your time to engineering input on construction projects, supporting delivery on time, on budget, and to specification. Deliver and manage high-impact engineering solutions through innovative practices, quality improvement programs, and project development. Lead and support major plant outages and overhauls, ensuring effective planning, execution, and continuous performance improvement. Oversee contractor and supplier engagement, including technical input on tender creation, evaluation, and performance monitoring. Implement and manage RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and Management of Change (MoC) processes, ensuring continuous learning and cross-fleet knowledge sharing. Support the recruitment, development, and technical competence of engineering staff, fostering a high-performance culture. Drive audit, compliance, and quality initiatives, including on-site surveillance and supplier inspections, ensuring engineering excellence and fleet-wide consistency. Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (equivalent experience may be considered in exceptional cases). Extensive cross-fleet engineering experience in a power generation or similar infrastructure environment, ideally including CCGT operations. Strong knowledge of engineering legislation and standards, especially PSSR and associated plant safety systems. Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams. Experience with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) systems, with a proven track record of promoting a zero-incident culture. Personal skills Analytical and solution-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Resilient and adaptable, able to manage changing priorities across construction and operational demands. Collaborative and communicative, with strong interpersonal skills to engage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders effectively.
