NEW LEAD COMPONENT ENGINEER BASED IN BARNSTPLE.
Our client based in Barnstaple are a well-known global electronics manufacturer focusing within industrial, medical and semiconductor manufacturing applications.
As the Lead Component Engineer, you’ll take ownership of activities relating to new component creation and qualification, identification of alternate parts for obsolescence, and cost reduction through supplier and material optimisation. You’ll collaborate closely with purchasing, engineering, safety, DVT, and QA teams to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities as a Lead Component Engineer in Barnstaple.
* Lead the qualification and creation of new electronic components.
* Identify and qualify alternate parts to manage obsolescence risks.
* Drive cost-down initiatives through lower-cost materials, components, and suppliers.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical and quality challenges.
* Actively contribute to departmental meetings, sharing insights and improvement ideas.
Requirements as a Lead Component Engineer in Barnstaple.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics or related discipline (essential).
* Strong knowledge of component types, datasheet parameters, testing, and evaluation.
* Experience in value engineering, obsolescence management, or component qualification.
