The Opportunity
Arise Recruit are working with a growing main contractor delivering a mix of residential, commercial and refurbishment projects across London and the southern counties. As the business expands, they’re looking to bring in a Lead Design Manager to support live project delivery and manage a small team consisting of two other Design Managers.
This role is ideal for somebody already managing a small team or a capable Senior Design Manager looking to step up into a leadership role.
Role Highlights

To appoint, lead, manage & motivate design management staff & external consultants on projects.
*
Day to day management of a small team of Design Managers.
*
Lead design management across multiple sites
*
Coordinate with consultants and carry out technical reviews
*
Play a key role in pre-construction and design development
*
Act as the go-to for resolving on-site design challenges
*
Liaise with subcontractors to manage design input and resolve clashes
*
Contribute to tender submissions and help shape early design strategy
*
Keep design aligned with programme, budget, and project targets
What You’ll Bring

Design Management experience with a main contractor (essential)
*
A strong understanding of construction and how design translates on-site
*
Strong CDM Awareness
*
Experience working on commercial, residential, or refurbishment projects
*
Comfortable leading coordination meetings and managing consultants/subcontractors
*
A proactive approach with great communication and problem-solving skills
*
Able to work independently but also closely with project and site teams
