The Opportunity
We have exciting opportunities for highly experienced Electrical Engineers with knowledge of Substations/Primary Plant 132kV, 275kV, 400kV. The successful candidates will be based in Glasgow, working 40 hours per week, with hybrid options available. Rate will be dependent on experience due to the potential for candidates of different levels of seniority to apply.
Your duties and responsibilities:
You will be accountable for the following tasks - including but not limited to a range of SSEN Transmission projects, AIS, GIS, up to 400kV - some of them are new substations, and some of them are replacement or extensions.
Typical substation design work to be carried out nationwide from FEED / Development phase to Detailed Design:
Provide Leadership on the FEED and detail design workstream for SSEN or National Grid.
Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, detailed design and bids for SSEN, NGET and DNOs.
Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work.
Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment.
Coordination with back-office engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers.
Ability to attend and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required.
Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes.
Customer focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status.
Minimum 8 years of experience within an electrical discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects, minimum 5 years of experience in UK working on National Grid or SSEN Transmission projects.
Relevant, professional experience in HV and LV experience and knowledge of Substations/ Primary Plant 132kV, 275kV, 400kV - Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings.
Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to manage teams and projects effectively.
The setting for the role:
The role will be mainly office based with trips to site if required. A safety induction will be provided.
