Job Role: Lead Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) Location: Northampton, NN3 Salary: £52,000-£57,000 Hours: Monday - Friday | 08.00-17.00 Full time, Permanent ________________________________________ The Client Interaction Recruitment are working in partnership with a global manufacturer of specialist glass products for the automotive and construction industries. Based in Northampton, the company is seeking a Lead Engineer to join their dynamic team and support plant operations through leadership, technical expertise, and continuous improvement. ________________________________________ The Benefits • 25 days holiday + bank holidays • 10% Pension • Health Shield • Life Insurance • Company uniform • Pay reviews after probation ________________________________________ The Role • Lead and manage the engineering team, ensuring motivation, development, and performance • Act as the designated Responsible Person for safety, compliance, and operational standards • Carry out electrical and mechanical installations, maintenance, and repairs on manufacturing equipment • Troubleshoot faults, calibrate vision systems, and support automation technologies • Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and improve efficiency • Analyse performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions • Coordinate planned maintenance schedules and manage external contractors • Contribute to the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures • Support capital investment planning and supplier engagement ________________________________________ The Requirements • Proven experience in a senior engineering or team leadership role within a manufacturing environment • Strong electrical background – 17th/18th Edition certification preferred • Hands-on experience with fault finding and repairs on electromechanical systems • Formal engineering qualifications (HNC/HND or equivalent) desirable • Experience with vision systems, control systems, and automation technologies • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proactive and analytical mindset • Automotive industry experience is a plus ________________________________________ Interaction Recruitment have specialist consultants across multiple UK industries including Engineering, Industrial, Finance, and Commercial.
