Are you a registered nurse ready to lead and inspire in the field of substance misuse services? We’re supporting a progressive healthcare organisation in South London seeking an experienced Lead Nurse to join their substance misuse team in Croydon. This is an ideal role for someone who’s passionate about delivering safe, high-impact, person-centred care to individuals affected by drug and alcohol use.
As Lead Nurse, you will:
Lead and manage a team of nurses supporting service users with complex needs
Ensure the service meets all CQC and national clinical governance standards
Deliver and support detoxification and clinical interventions alongside the prescribing team
Champion harm minimisation initiatives such as BBV screening and immunisation
Act as an escalation point for clinical risk, safeguarding, and care concerns
Supervise, develop, and coach junior nurses and team members
Build effective partnerships with external stakeholders and MDTs
Play an active role in audits, quality assurance, and service development
What’s on Offer:
Annual salary of £47,000–£51,000, depending on experience
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

You’ll need to have:
NMC registration as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
Proven experience in substance misuse, community care or mental health settings
Strong leadership qualities and confidence managing teams
A working knowledge of harm reduction, detox pathways, and BBV care
Ability to handle complex clinical caseloads while ensuring best practice and compliance
Excellent communication, decision-making, and clinical assessment skills
