Lead Production Engineer Poole Lead Production Engineer  Salary - £40,000 – £55,000 Lead Production Engineer Overview: Own process improvement activity across production to improve quality, cost and delivery Support NPI and DFM, ensuring new products land smoothly into manufacture Act as a technical link across Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations Drive efficiency on existing builds through practical changes, not firefighting Take broader ownership of priorities and technical direction as experience increases If you’re a Production Engineer who enjoys improving processes, solving manufacturing problems, and making a visible difference on the shop floor, this Lead Production Engineer role is worth a look. This is a Lead Production Engineer opportunity with a well-established engineering manufacturer in Poole producing complex electro-mechanical equipment for demanding operational environments. They’re strengthening their Production Engineering capability and are open to candidates across a range of levels within the Lead Production Engineer salary band, with a strong mix of hands-on manufacturing support, continuous improvement and project-based activity. The Lead Production Engineer role As a Lead Production Engineer, you’ll be responsible for implementing and improving production processes and procedures, supporting productivity improvements, and helping ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing. You’ll work across new and existing products, supporting NPI, process development, tooling/fixture improvements, standardisation, and technical problem-solving. Depending on your level, the Lead Production Engineer role can also include greater involvement in reviewing team priorities, supporting wider production engineering activities, and acting as a more senior technical point of contact. Day-to-day responsibilities of a Lead Production Engineer Support implementation and improvement of production processes and procedures Ensure design for manufacture is achieved during new product introduction Identify manufacturing needs for new products in development Support systems and processes for new product introduction (NPI) Design or support the development of systems, methods and processes for cost-effective manufacture Design or review fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks Reduce process variability through standard work methods and work instructions Carry out and/or support PFMEAs, process documentation and implementation of improvements Support error-proofing (Poka Yoke) activity where possible Investigate production and process issues, providing technical support and training Perform root cause analysis and support timely resolution of manufacturing problems Work with production and cross-functional teams to improve quality, cost and delivery Contribute to continuous improvement and process improvement activities Support special projects as required At higher level, support prioritisation of work and broader Production Engineering team activity  What they’re looking for - Lead Production Engineer Background in production engineering, manufacturing engineering, assembly/process engineering, or similar Understanding of manufacturing processes in a complex engineering environment Experience supporting process improvement, problem-solving, and production issue resolution Understanding of lean manufacturing principles Experience with PFMEA / process documentation / standard work methods (or strong exposure) Understanding of quality, waste reduction, downtime, scrap and rework drivers Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a logical, practical approach CAD capability (e.g. SolidWorks / CREO) and good PC/software skills Good communication skills across shop floor and wider stakeholders Understanding of Health & Safety practices Relevant engineering/manufacturing qualification preferred (HND, degree or equivalent experience considered) Eligibility to obtain SC Clearance  What’s on offer - Lead Production Engineer £40,000 – £55,000 salary range Opportunity to join at a level aligned to your experience and capability Varied work across NPI, process improvement and production support Exposure to complex electro-mechanical manufacturing Strong cross-functional involvement across Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations Established engineering business with long-term work Clear opportunity to influence productivity, quality and manufacturing performance  How to apply for the Lead Production Engineer position If you’re interested in this Lead Production Engineer role, get in touch for a confidential chat.
