The Role
As Lead Propagator, you'll be responsible for the production of over 1.25 million young plants annually, leading a small team of 5 and ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, and innovation.
This is a hands-on role, which will see you oversee propagation from seed and cuttings, manage stock plants, and ensure everything runs smoothly. You'll also play a key role in developing new techniques and mentoring your team.
Day-to-Day You'll Be:
Planning and prioritising propagation schedules
Monitoring crop health, irrigation, feeding, and weaning.
Managing horticulture stock plants and forecasting yields
Leading and motivating a team of up to six staff.
Maintaining accurate records and updating production systems
Driving innovation in propagation methods and materials
Ensuring safe working practices and clean, organised workspaces
Liaising with other departments to keep everything running smoothly.What You'll Need
Proven experience in a commercial horticulture nursery, and experience in propagation
Strong leadership and organisational skills
A keen eye for detail and a methodical approach
Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities
A horticultural qualification and PA1 are desirable-but not essential.
