Hull
4 on / 4 off rotating days & nights
£19.28 per hour (annual salary £(phone number removed)

Aqumen Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Lead Setter to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled injection moulding professional looking to take the next step into a senior technical production role with responsibility for machine setup, optimisation, and mentoring team members.

️ The Role
As a Lead Setter, you’ll play a key role in ensuring production machinery runs efficiently, safely, and consistently to deliver high-quality output.
Key responsibilities include:
Setting up injection moulding machines and associated equipment
Performing mould changes in line with production schedules
Monitoring and adjusting process parameters to maintain product quality
Troubleshooting machine faults, process issues, and part defects
Carrying out routine maintenance and cleaning of moulds and equipment
Supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
Working closely with engineering and quality teams to optimise performance
Recording production data, maintenance activity, and process changes accurately
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures
Supporting and mentoring junior setters and production colleagues
Maintaining strong communication across production and technical teams
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you’ll ideally have:
A Level 3 qualification in polymer processing (or equivalent)
At least 2 years’ experience in injection moulding operations
Strong knowledge of moulding machines, tooling setup, and process control
Experience working with a variety of plastic resins and materials
Understanding of mould setup and maintenance procedures
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting ability
Experience supporting or mentoring team members on shift
Awareness of quality inspection standards and production documentation
Exposure to extrusion blow moulding (advantageous but not essential)
