The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Lead Software Engineer?
Lead requirements capture, design, implementation, and verification of a bare-metal, real-time embedded C system.
Ensure compliance with DO-178C Level A, including traceability, rigorous testing, and quality assurance.
Drive quality through regular design and code reviews.
Manage and mentor a team of software engineers, providing direction and technical oversight.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, and test engineering) to ensure seamless integration.
Provide project status updates to stakeholders and contribute to program reviews.
Foster effective communication across the engineering team and wider business.
What are we looking for in our next Lead Software Engineer?
Proven experience developing bare-metal, real-time embedded systems in C.
Strong knowledge of DO-178C Level A standards, processes, and documentation.
Experience in safety-critical systems with understanding of certification requirements (including MCDC testing).
Proficiency in real-time software design (RTOS experience desirable).
Familiarity with debugging tools, hardware interfaces, and safety analysis techniques.
Demonstrated success leading software teams in safety-critical or aerospace environments.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
