Our specialist Alternative Provision (AP) in Barnoldswick is recruiting an exceptional and resilient Lead Teacher to embark on a structured Deputy Headteacher Training Programme, commencing January 2026 (or sooner).
This unique and rewarding role offers a clear pathway into senior leadership. You will receive direct mentorship and targeted professional development to prepare you for the strategic and operational demands of a Deputy Headteacher within a complex needs setting. We support vulnerable secondary pupils (KS3-KS4) facing significant Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural barriers.
The Opportunity: Growth & Impact
Bespoke Mentorship: Receive specialised leadership training and direct coaching from the Headteacher, focusing on AP strategy, finance, and therapeutic approaches.
Operational Leadership: Take immediate ownership of key operational areas, including daily timetable management, curriculum differentiation, and leading data tracking for SEND/SEMH outcomes.
Behaviour & Welfare: Lead the implementation of positive and restorative behaviour strategies and act as a crucial link in the safeguarding team (DDSL training provided).
Competitive Package: An immediate salary of up to £38,000, with guaranteed career progression and salary review upon successful transition to the full Deputy Head post.
Who We Are Looking For
Desirable: A resilient, dedicated teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desireable.
Experience: Proven experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., Phase Lead, TLR holder) within an AP, Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), or a mainstream setting with a high volume of SEMH/SEND pupils.
Attributes: You must demonstrate exceptional commitment to a fast-track leadership development plan and possess a deep, non-judgemental passion for securing positive outcomes for vulnerable young people.
