About the Role
A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join their SEMH specialist unit from 3rd November. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.
The successful Learning Mentor will work closely with a small group of pupils, providing targeted emotional and academic support, helping to build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with SEMH needs within a specialist provision attached to the primary school.
Develop trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and behaviour.
Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focusing on social and emotional skills.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and external agencies.
Promote inclusion and wellbeing within the school community.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience as a Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, or similar support role.
Understanding of SEMH needs and effective behaviour management strategies.
Strong communication, empathy, and resilience.
Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges.
A genuine passion for helping children succeed.
