Specialist Learning Support Assistant – Specialist College
Essex (travel required)
Full-time | Part-time
✨ The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Specialist Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a leading Specialist College in Essex. This rewarding role will involve supporting young people with additional learning needs both in the classroom and in community-based learning environments.
As this role requires travel between sites and local community settings, you must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
Your Role
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of complex learning difficulties, disabilities, or additional needs.
Support students in classroom, vocational, and community-based learning activities, helping to promote independence and confidence.
Assist with personal care and life skills development where required.
Encourage engagement and positive behaviour through effective strategies and pastoral support.
Liaise with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to ensure individual learning plans (ILPs) and EHCP outcomes are met.
Transport students (where required) and support them during off-site trips, work experience, and community visits.
✅ What We’re Looking For
Previous experience in an SEN or specialist learning environment (college, school, or care setting).
A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach, with resilience and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build supportive and trusting relationships.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential for this role).
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
