Job Description

A welcoming and highly nurturing specialist school in Didsbury is looking to appoint a Learning Support Worker to join their dedicated team. The school supports pupils with complex communication and educational needs, as well as young people with learning disabilities, autism, sensory impairments and a range of complex needs. The Role As a Learning Support Worker, you will primarily be supporting students within the classroom, helping them access learning and develop essential life skills. Key responsibilities include: Providing 1:1 or small-group support Assisting pupils with communication, sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing Delivering activities set by the class teacher and SENCO Supporting pupils with complex needs to engage positively in learning Promoting independence, confidence and resilience Helping maintain a calm, structured and nurturing environment This is an incredibly rewarding role, ideal for someone who is compassionate, patient and committed to making a positive difference. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience in a care or education setting Experience working with young people Understanding of – or willingness to learn about – complex needs, learning disabilities, Autism and sensory impairments Empathy, resilience and excellent communication skills Enthusiasm and a commitment to supporting positive outcomes An Enhanced Child & Adult DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel Why Join This School?
