Learning Support Assistant (FE College)

Location: Northampton

Hours: Full Time

TeacherActive is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work within a further education college in Northampton. This role involves supporting students with a range of additional learning needs, ensuring they are able to fully access the curriculum and engage with their studies.

You will work closely with lecturers to provide targeted support during lessons, as well as assisting learners on a one-to-one or small group basis where required. The role requires a proactive, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting learners with varying abilities.

The successful candidate will contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, encouraged, and able to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide in-class support to students with additional learning needs
Assist learners with tasks, activities, and understanding of content
Support the development of literacy, numeracy, and organisational skills
Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
Work in line with safeguarding policies and individual support plans
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting young people or adults with SEND
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
A relevant support qualification is desirable
