Learning Support Assistant – Hillingdon (UB4) Location: Hillingdon (UB4) Start Date: ASAP Start Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only A warm and welcoming 3-form entry mainstream primary school in Hillingdon is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team. You will be working with small groups of pupils with SEN, supporting them in the classroom and during unstructured times, delivering sensory activities, using communication tools such as PECS and Now & Next boards, helping with personal care, managing behaviour, and promoting independence, confidence, and engagement in learning. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be actively supporting pupils to access the curriculum and develop key social, emotional, and practical skills. The Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will: * Work closely with small groups of pupils with SEN within a mainstream classroom * Support pupils throughout the school day, including during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times * Deliver tailored learning activities and break tasks down to meet individual needs * Run and support sensory activities to help with engagement and regulation * Use communication tools such as PECS and Now & Next boards consistently * Support pupils with routines, structure, and understanding expectations * Manage and support behaviour using calm, consistent strategies * Assist with personal care, where required * Help pupils develop social skills, independence, and confidence * Record observations and provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour * Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to follow EHCP targets and support plans * Support with classroom preparation, resources, and maintaining a structured environment About You * Previous experience supporting children, ideally within a school or SEN setting * Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years, or similar * Experience working with SEN, particularly ASD or communication needs * Confident using or willing to learn PECS, visual timetables, and sensory approaches * Comfortable supporting personal care needs * Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations * Proactive and able to use initiative within the classroom * Strong communication and teamwork skills * DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) What’s on Offer * Supportive and welcoming school environment * Opportunity to work within a collaborative 3-form entry setting * Clear pathways for career progression and professional growth * Ongoing training and development opportunities * A rewarding role supporting pupils with SEN in a mainstream setting
