Job Description

Location: Chelmsford, UK Job Title: Learning Support Assistant Pay and working hours: * Per hour/Salary: £16.50 an hour through Workwell * Working hours: Full-time (35-37 hours a week) Key Responsibilities: * Provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioral challenges. * Assist in classroom and independent learning, reinforcing lesson content and promoting student engagement and confidence. * Encourage independence and skill development, helping learners build study skills, resilience, and self-reliance. * Monitor progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff and support teams, contributing to learning plans and reports. * Support wellbeing and inclusion, helping create a safe, respectful, and accessible learning environment for all students. What We’re Looking For: * Experience working with post-16 learners, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or additional support needs. * Strong literacy and numeracy skills, typically GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, supportive relationships with learners and staff. * Ability to work effectively in a classroom or one-to-one setting, supporting student engagement and independence. * Knowledge of safeguarding practices and a clear commitment to promoting the welfare and inclusion of all students.
