Learning Support Assistant - Secondary SEN School - Lewisham - September Start
Location: Lewisham, South East London
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Long-term, full-time
Daily Rate: £85 - £100 per day (depending on experience)
School Type: Secondary SEN School (KS3 - KS4)
Are you a compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant ready to make a difference in a specialist SEN setting?
Remedy Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary SEN school in Lewisham, seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team this September. The school caters for pupils aged 11-16 with a range of complex needs including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, and associated learning difficulties.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting vulnerable young people to thrive in a structured, therapeutic learning environment.
The Role:
Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, both in and out of class
Assist with academic learning, emotional regulation, and social development
Help implement personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
Promote a calm, consistent, and positive approach to behaviour
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and other staff
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in a secondary school setting
Strong understanding of SEMH, ASD, and additional needs
Patient, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
Able to build trust and rapport with students who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education
A team player with excellent communication skills
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
Right to work in the UK
Relevant experience in education, youth work, support work or care (essential)
Training in Team Teach, MAPA or similar (desirable but not essential)
