Reeson Education is currently supporting a warm, inclusive 1-form entry primary school in Southfields (SW19) that is looking to appoint a full-time Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with a diagnosis of Autism and behavioural needs. This role will begin in September 2025 and run for the full academic year, with the potential to extend into a permanent contract.
About the Role:
You will work closely with a Year 5 pupil who requires support with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and accessing the curriculum.
This is a 1:1 role with a strong emphasis on building trust, creating a safe and structured learning environment, and implementing individualised support strategies.
You will collaborate daily with the class teacher, the school's SENCO, and external professionals (e.g., Educational Psychologist, Speech & Language Therapist).
The pupil may present with high anxiety, emotional outbursts, or difficulty engaging-so experience with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) is highly beneficial.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Previous experience working with ASD, challenging behaviour, or pupils with SEMH needs in a school or care setting
Confident using behaviour support strategies (e.g., visual schedules, Now/Next boards, Zones of Regulation, reward systems)
Patient, emotionally resilient, and able to remain calm in high-pressure situations
A team player who can take initiative but also follow individual support plans
A positive role model with strong communication skills
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
The School Offers:
A nurturing and supportive leadership team with a strong focus on inclusion
Regular CPD, safeguarding, and SEND training
Clear policies and expectations for behaviour and support staff
An inclusive ethos where every child is known and valued
Great location with easy access to Southfields tube (District Line), Wandsworth, and nearby bus routes
Staff wellbeing initiatives and a genuinely warm working environment
