Job Description

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Salisbury is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their supportive team from September. The Role: The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of additional learning needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This will involve both in-class support and occasional one-to-one or small group interventions outside of lessons. The role requires patience, adaptability, and a nurturing approach, as well as the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff alike. This is a full-time, term-time role ideally suited to someone with previous experience in a similar setting, though the school is also open to considering candidates with a strong interest in working with young people and a genuine desire to make a difference. Key Responsibilities: Supporting identified students in lessons to access the curriculum and stay engaged in their learning Assisting with the implementation of personalised support plans and learning strategies Working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to reinforce key concepts and develop skills Supporting the classroom teacher in maintaining a positive learning environment Helping to monitor and record student progress, and feeding back to the SENCO and teaching staff Contributing to the overall wellbeing and development of students, offering encouragement and emotional support when needed The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or educational setting A calm and empathetic nature, with the ability to remain professional and positive in challenging situations Strong communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as using initiative when required A good standard of general education, including literacy and numeracy skills An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the needs of students with SEND This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking school community that values inclusion and puts students at the heart of everything it does.
