GSL Education are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Retford. This opportunity is ideal for those who are enthusiastic about making a real difference in students’ academic and personal development.
About the School: This is a welcoming and well-resourced specialist setting for secondary-aged pupils who follow a primary-style curriculum. The school supports students with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties. Class sizes are small, typically around 12 to 13 pupils, allowing for more tailored and supportive teaching.
It’s a bit like teaching primary children in secondary-sized bodies—full of energy, personality and potential.
Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA):
Offer 1:1 and small group support to students who require additional assistance.
Support the teaching team by reinforcing lesson content and adapting materials where needed.
Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Monitor student progress and share insights with teachers and SEN staff.
Promote students’ confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
Assist with the implementation of individual support strategies and classroom routines.
Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Skills & Requirements:
Experience supporting young people in an educational or care setting is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach.
Commitment to safeguarding and supporting the needs of all students.
Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
