ABC Teachers is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work in an SEN School in Nuneaton on a full-time basis from September.
About the role:
As a Learning Support Assistant in a specialist SEN school, you will work closely with pupils aged 11–17 with Autism (ASC), many of whom have additional needs including social, emotional and mental health challenges, communication difficulties, and varying levels of cognitive or learning needs.
The role involves providing consistent, personalised support within a structured and nurturing environment, assisting in the delivery of tailored learning activities, promoting emotional regulation, and helping pupils develop their communication and social interaction skills.
Working under the guidance of teaching staff and therapists, you will help create an inclusive and positive learning space where students feel safe, respected, and empowered to thrive.

About you:
We are looking for candidates who have: -
Understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and other associated needs (e.g. social, emotional and mental health needs, communication difficulties, or learning disabilities).
Patience, empathy, and resilience – able to remain calm and supportive, even in challenging situations.
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and non-verbal, and able to adapt to different communication needs.
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
Team player – able to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
Basic literacy and numeracy skills – typically equivalent to GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
Can provide appropriate references and pass a DBS check.
