Job Opportunity: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary) ๐Ÿ“ Location: Stretford, Greater Manchester ๐Ÿ“… Start Date: ASAP ๐Ÿ’ผ Contract: Full-Time Are you calm, resilient, and passionate about helping children with social, emotional and mental health needs thrive? We are a specialist SEMH Primary School in Stretford, providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children aged 5-11 with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. Many of our pupils have experienced barriers to learning in mainstream settings, and we work hard to rebuild confidence, trust, and a love of learning. We are looking for an empathetic, motivated and dependable SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team and support pupils who need consistent, caring adults to help them succeed both emotionally and academically. ๐Ÿงฉ Your Role Will Include: Supporting individual pupils or small groups with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom Helping pupils regulate their emotions and manage behaviour through consistent, trauma-informed approaches Building trusting, respectful relationships with pupils who may have experienced adversity or school-based anxiety Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated activities Contributing to behaviour support plans, risk assessments and daily pupil records Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support each child's development holistically โœ… We're Looking For Someone Who: Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (school, PRU, youth work, care, etc.) Is calm under pressure and able to de-escalate challenging situations with confidence and empathy Understands trauma-informed practice and restorative behaviour strategies (training provided) Is patient, consistent and emotionally resilient Works well as part of a team and values collaboration Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach, mental health awareness) - desirable but not essential ๐ŸŒˆ In Return, We Offer: A close-knit and supportive team who truly care about each other and the pupils Ongoing professional development including SEMH and behaviour training (e.g. Team Teach) A structured and well-resourced setting with clear routines and expectations A meaningful, rewarding role where no two days are the same Opportunities to progress into specialist roles or further training routes ๐Ÿ“ฉ How to Apply: To apply, please send your CV and a short covering letter to [Insert email address or online application link].
