Job Vacancy: Full-Time Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School, Portsmouth
Are you passionate about supporting young people in their education journey? A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis, starting ASAP.
📍 Location: Portsmouth
🕒 Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 15:30pm
📅 Start Date: Immediate
📘 Contract Type: Long-term (with potential for permanent placement)
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to students in and out of the classroom
Assist with lesson preparation and classroom activities
Support students with special educational needs and/or disabilities
Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with secondary-aged students (preferred)
Understanding of SEN and inclusive practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
