Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Post-16 SEND Setting
Location: Plymouth
Hours: Full-Time, 8:45am – 4:45pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary to Permanent (Opportunity to become permanent after 3 months)
Start Date: 1st September 2025 - interviews happening w/c 14th July 2025

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic and supportive Post-16 SEND setting. This full-time role involves working closely with students aged 16+ to support their development in Functional Skills English and Maths, as well as providing transition support as they prepare to move on to college courses, apprenticeships, and employment pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support in Functional Skills English and Maths
Assist students with SEND to access and engage in their learning
Support learners in planning and preparing for post-education transitions
Liaise with teaching staff and external providers to ensure effective support plans are in place
Encourage student independence, confidence, and progress in both academic and life skills
Requirements:
Previous experience working with young people with SEND is essential
Experience within an educational setting is highly desirable
A strong understanding of Functional Skills curriculum and the challenges facing Post-16 learners
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, adaptability, and a supportive, proactive approach
Supported Employment Techniques training (SET) - this training can be provided

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
