Do you have the resilience, empathy, and drive to support children and young people with SEMH needs? The Education Network is working in partnership with a Local Authority maintained SEND school that supports children aged 9 to 16 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behavioural challenges.
We are seeking committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have the confidence and patience to support students who may struggle with emotional regulation, trauma-related behaviours, or disrupted education histories.
🧩 Your Role:
Supporting pupils in the classroom and during less structured times (e.g. breaks, transitions)
Implementing positive behaviour strategies, de-escalation techniques, and emotional support plans
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external agencies
Contributing to EHCP reviews, behaviour plans, and regular pupil progress meetings
✅ What We’re Looking For:
Experience working with young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or in a PRU/alternative provision/SEND setting
A calm, confident, and consistent approach
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Strong team player able to follow behaviour and safeguarding policies closely
A passion for supporting pupils with complex needs to achieve their potential
🎓 Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Team Teach / PRICE / MAPA or other behaviour management training
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or Youth Work qualification
Background in youth work, mentoring, care, or residential support
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches
