Learning Support Assistant – Secondary SEMH School Location: Eastleigh, Hampshire Pay: £13.75 per hour Full-Time | Immediate Start | Term-Time Only Permanent Contract Considered Following Successful Probation Applicants Must Be 21 or Over We are seeking a committed and energetic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a well-regarded secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Eastleigh. This is a full-time position to start as soon as possible, with the potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate. Our school provides a supportive and structured environment for students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs. While the school supports pupils with additional behavioural and emotional needs, behaviour is well-managed, and students regularly achieve GCSEs and move on to further education, training, or apprenticeships. The Role: Support students in and out of the classroom, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing Work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored learning interventions Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a positive and consistent role model Assist in sports-based or active sessions where appropriate – a background in sport or physical activity is a strong advantage Promote independence, resilience, and engagement with education Requirements: Must be 21 years old or over (due to safeguarding and supervision responsibilities) Prior experience working with young people with SEMH needs is essential A sporty, active or mentoring background is highly desirable Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to individual pupil needs What We Offer: A rewarding and purposeful role in a specialist setting Supportive leadership and experienced team Opportunity for a permanent contract, following a successful introductory period Term-time working pattern with regular hours £13.75 per hour pay rate This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and join a dedicated team committed to helping every student succeed.
