Job Description

Learning Support Assistant – Complex Needs (SEN School) Location: Southampton Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour Contract: Term Time Only Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Southampton, supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, and medical conditions. This is a term-time only role, ideal for candidates looking to work within education and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs. Key Responsibilities: Provide individual and small group support to pupils within the classroom environment Assist with personal care and mobility support where required (training provided) Support the implementation of communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton) and sensory strategies Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams to implement individual education plans (IEPs) Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that supports the emotional and academic development of pupils Assist with the delivery of tailored learning activities and therapeutic interventions Candidate Requirements: Experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable Confidence in assisting with personal care and physical needs, or willingness to undertake training Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting complex needs Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Benefits of Working with Teaching Personnel: Competitive hourly rate of £13.75, paid weekly Full-time role, Monday to Friday (term time only) Long-term position with the potential to become permanent Access to specialist training and CPD Dedicated consultant providing ongoing support throughout your placement All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
