Job Category: Primary, Secondary, Specialist provision Job Type: Full Time/Part Time, Temporary Job Location: Wigan, St Helens, Warrington and surrounding areas Pay Rate: £95-105 per day depending on experience and assignment Start Date: Flexible start dates available About the role: EdStaff are currently recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistants for temporary roles in a variety of mainstream and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) school settings. These flexible opportunities provide an excellent platform to develop your skills, gain hands-on experience, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people. Psychology graduates considering a career in education are particularly encouraged to apply. EdStaff is an independent education recruitment specialist based in the North West, supplying high quality education staff to schools, colleges and nursery settings. Key responsibilities: * Support learners in both mainstream and SEND school environments. * Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions. * Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where pupils can achieve their full potential. * Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development. * Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection practices Person specification: * Previous experience supporting children or young people with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour * Previously worked in a role such as: Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Care worker, Support worker or Children’s Residential worker * Ability to engage students aged 11-16 years * Strong relationship-building skills * Ability to remain consistent and structured * Good communication and teamwork skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills * Confident classroom presence * Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude Essential requirements: * Have the right to work in the UK * Hold a level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification, an education based degree, a degree in psychology or have experience of working with children or young people in an education, care or community setting * Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one * Able to provide references to cover the last 2 years Why join EdStaff: * A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your job search * Weekly pay via PAYE * Free online CPD accredited learning opportunities * Local roles—we find schools that suit your needs and location * The opportunity to build strong relationships with local schools – potential for long-term and permanent positions * Competitive pay rates * Refer-a-friend scheme Edstaff are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment
