Prisons have dedicated education departments, complete with classrooms and fully-equipped workshops where learning takes place. Despite the challenges of the environment, you'll be supported every step of the way by an experienced education team, with access to ongoing training and professional development.
Details of this position:
This position is for a Learning Facilitator to work in prison education.
The role involves providing both individual and group support to learners, helping them deepen their understanding and encouraging their educational and personal development.
Assist in delivering learning activities that foster academic success and personal growth.
Offer tailored support to individuals and groups to enhance engagement and build self-confidence.
Help create and sustain a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
Accurately track and record learner attendance, progress, and outcomes.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, prison officers, and other key stakeholders to meet learners' educational needs.Work schedule: 3 x 12 hour days 8am-8pm Monday - Friday with some flexibility to cover Saturday between the team.
Salary scale: £27,600 per annum

Suitable candidates will need to be enthusiastic, resilient and have a humanistic approach. This role will not be for everyone, but anyone with a slight interest is encouraged to apply and if suitable, you will have the opportunity to have a discussion with the hiring manager directly over the phone, who can provide more detail and an insight into life working in a prison.
To be considered, suitable candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
A Level 3 teaching qualification is desirable, though not essential.
Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar support role is advantageous.
Experience within prison education or adult learning is highly valued.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain the appropriate prison clearance before starting the role and maintain this throughout employment.
