We are seeking Learning Support Mentors who are compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic about supporting students in an educational setting. This role is based at an independent residential college in Yeovil, which offers specialist further education and care for young people aged 16 to 25. All students have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) and are supported with diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and other moderate to severe learning difficulties, emotional needs, or complex care requirements.
Key Details:
£15 per hour (including holiday pay)
Day shifts: 08:30-15:00 or 14:30-22:00
Rota includes weekends and Bank Holidays
Based in Lufton, Yeovil - free on-site parking
Full training provided, including Level 3 Health & Social Care and MAPA certificationWhat You'll Do as a Learning Support Mentor:
Support students in accessing educational, therapeutic, and community-based learning activities such as animal therapy, swimming, and cinema outings
Help create a stimulating, supportive learning environment where students feel safe, motivated, and empowered
Provide one-to-one and group support, helping students build confidence, resilience, and independence through both structured learning and daily living tasks
Encourage participation in college activities and clubs, acting as a positive role model at all times
Assist with daily routines, including personal care, ensuring dignity and respect
Keep accurate and up-to-date records, supporting each student's educational journey and personal developmentWhat We're Looking For:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience working in education or care settings (e.g., teaching assistant, residential care, SEN support, supported living)
A genuine commitment to supporting young people with diverse learning needs
