Job Description

Learning Support Practitioner Location: Minehead, Somerset Salary: £19,813.62 - £21,599.47 ⏰ Hours: 32 hours per week (Term Time plus additional days and training) Contract: Permanent, Part Time Additional Information: Shift work required, including weekends and sleep-ins - sleep-in shifts are paid at a flat rate of £65 in addition to your annual salary. About the College We are proud to be working with a specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities, a truly unique and inspiring place. Passionate about transforming lives by equipping their students with skills, knowledge and confidence, their mission is to prepare young adults to be work-ready and life-ready, with a particular focus on the hospitality sector. The Role As a Learning Support Practitioner, your role is to support students across their residential houses, the hotel and classroom settings. You will be key in helping the students achieve independence and sustainable employment in hospitality. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including: 7:00am - 3:00pm 2:00pm - 10:00pm 10:00am - 6:00pm Shifts operate on a two-week rota, including alternate weekends. Key responsibilities: Maintain high expectations for all students, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Support students in their learning under the guidance of House Managers and Tutors. Assist in managing student behaviour professionally and seek guidance when necessary. Collaborate effectively with session tutors to foster a positive and proactive learning environment. Promote the development of wider life skills such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, personal hygiene, communication, self-advocacy, presentation skills and teamwork. Provide 1:1 support as directed, monitoring students' personal development and independence.
