Job Description

Personal Advisor – Care Leavers Location: Tameside Contract: Full-Time | Ongoing Are you passionate about making a lasting difference in the lives of young people? Do you have the drive to support and empower care leavers as they transition into adulthood? If so, we want to hear from you. We're looking for a Personal Advisor (PA) to join the dedicated Leaving Care Team in Tameside, supporting young people aged 16+ as they navigate the journey into independent living. Many of the young people we support have experienced trauma and adversity, and your role will be instrumental in building trust, promoting stability, and helping them thrive. What You’ll Do: Build strong, supportive relationships with care leavers to help them feel connected, safe, and valued. Co-produce tailored pathway plans that reflect the young person’s wishes, needs, and aspirations. Advocate for young people, working in partnership with a range of services including housing, education, health, and training providers. Carry out regular visits, direct work, and assessments in line with statutory guidance. Support young people from diverse backgrounds, respecting their cultural, religious, and personal identities. Promote trauma-informed, anti-discriminatory, and strengths-based approaches to practice. Participate in duty systems, supervision, training, and team development activities. What We’re Looking For: Essential Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Care of Children and Young People, NNEB, BTEC, or equivalent. Essential Skills & Experience: Ability to communicate effectively with young people, families, and professionals. Experience in needs assessments, support planning, and case recording. A trauma-informed, empathetic approach to building trusting relationships. Skilled in planning, organising, and prioritising in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to promoting equality, inclusion, and co-production with young people. Confident using IT systems and electronic case recording tools. Ability to travel for home visits and community work. It’s a Bonus If You Have: Experience supporting young people affected by domestic abuse or substance misuse. Knowledge of child development, attachment theory, and safeguarding. Experience helping care leavers access education, employment, or training. Familiarity with local resources and services available to young people. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to shape futures, build resilience, and become a trusted adult in a young person’s life. To apply or find out more, contact John Deane at: ?
