Job Description

Electrical Lecturer Location: Northamptonshire Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (occasional evenings and weekends required) Contract: Permanent Closing date: 15th August 2026.   An established education and training provider is seeking an experienced Electrical Lecturer to deliver engaging, industry-focused teaching to learners across a range of electrical installation programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrician looking to move into education, or for an existing lecturer wanting to join a supportive and forward-thinking organisation. The successful candidate will help develop the next generation of skilled professionals by delivering high-quality teaching, assessing learner progress, and supporting students throughout their learning journey. Key Responsibilities: Deliver classroom, workshop and practical electrical training to full-time, part-time and adult learners. Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet awarding body and curriculum requirements. Assess learner work, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress towards qualifications. Act as a personal tutor, supporting learner attendance, wellbeing and academic achievement. Maintain accurate learner records, assessment documentation and course administration. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of electrical programmes to meet current industry standards. Support learner recruitment through open events, employer engagement and promotional activities. Participate in quality assurance activities including internal verification, standardisation and course reviews. Ensure workshop facilities, equipment and learning resources are maintained to a high standard. Promote a safe learning environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation. Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of teaching and learner support. Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an outstanding learner experience. Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required.The Ideal Candidate:  You'll have a strong background within the electrical industry and a genuine passion for developing others. Whether you're already teaching or looking to transition from industry into education, you'll be committed to helping learners achieve their potential. Essential: Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or a related discipline. GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent. Recent industry experience within the electrical or construction sector. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to motivate and inspire learners with varying abilities. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload effectively. Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and inclusive learning. Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification if not already held.Desirable: Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training or equivalent). Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification. Experience teaching within Further or Higher Education. Evidence of continuous professional development.
