Lecturer in Engineering

Location: Furness
Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Engineering to join a growing engineering curriculum team in Barrow-in-Furness.

This role would suit either an experienced Engineering Lecturer or an industry professional looking to take the next step into education. If you have a passion for developing future engineering talent and hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, we would love to hear from you.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, training and assessment across a range of engineering programmes, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required by today's engineering sector.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering engaging and practical lessons in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
Planning and preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
Assessing learner progress and providing timely feedback.
Supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
Maintaining accurate records in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
Embedding current industry practices and standards into teaching delivery.
Supporting apprenticeship and employer engagement activities where required.
Ensuring safe working practices within engineering workshops and learning environments.

Contributing to quality improvement and curriculum development activities.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:

A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Relevant industry experience within an engineering environment.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
A passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learner success.A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. Full support will be provided for industry candidates who are looking to transition into teaching and gain a recognised teaching qualification.
