Job Vacancy: Lecturer - Full-Time & Part-Time
Location: Durham
Daily Rate: £140 to £180 (depending on hours worked)
Empowering Learning is currently recruiting Lecturers to support further education providers in Durham. We have opportunities for both full-time and part-time positions, with flexible working options available.
Role Overview
As a Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment within your subject area. You will inspire, motivate, and support learners to achieve their full potential, ensuring an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet learner needs
Adapt teaching methods to support a range of abilities and learning styles
Set high expectations for learners and provide clear learning objectives
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Assess learner progress through assignments, exams, and coursework
Provide constructive feedback to support development and achievement
Maintain accurate records of learner progress, attendance, and assessments
Curriculum Contribution
Contribute to curriculum planning and development
Assist in reviewing and updating schemes of work and teaching materials
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in quality and delivery
Learner Support
Offer academic and pastoral support, helping learners overcome barriers to achievement
Maintain positive behaviour and a safe, respectful classroom environment
Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and support services as required
Professional Development and Compliance
Participate in staff meetings, training, and CPD opportunities
Ensure teaching complies with college policies, safeguarding procedures, and awarding body requirements
Requirements
A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, QTS, QTLS or equivalent)
Degree or relevant qualification in your subject area
Experience teaching
Knowledge of curriculum and assessment requirements within your specialism
Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
Commitment to inclusive education and continuous professional development
