My client is seeking a Legal Cashier to join their busy law firm on a permanent basis in Mayfair, London.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working alongside other experienced Cashiers, you will be responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently, in line with the firm’s procedures and SRA Accounts Rules. This is a varied and hands-on position that will involve close liaison with fee earners, secretaries, and other business support teams.
• Processing outward CHAPS and faster payments promptly and accurately
• Allocating client and office receipts and reconciling any discrepancies
• Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
• Processing purchase ledger invoices on the accounts system
• Posting Land Registry, Court fees, and Companies House online portal invoices
• Entering and paying employee expenses in line with firm policy
• Managing a daily payment run for due invoices
• Handling daily banking and ensuring accurate posting of transactions
• Processing and paying Counsel fee notes
• Providing general administrative support to the Cashiers team
• Assisting with audit preparation and compliance tasks where required
• Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times

The ideal candidate will bring energy, initiative, and a genuine desire to build a long-term career within a reputable firm. You will have a strong eye for detail and a commitment to providing a first-class internal service to colleagues.
• At least 1 year’s relevant experience in a Legal Cashier or finance support role (ideally within a law firm or professional services environment)
• A good standard of education (minimum GCSEs including Maths and English)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting systems
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A professional and conscientious approach, with strong attention to detail
• A proactive “can-do” attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
• A courteous, confident, and adaptable manner when dealing with colleagues and external parties
