Legal Contracts Quantity Surveyor – Manchester
Overview:
A respected construction consultancy in Manchester seeks a Legal Contracts Quantity Surveyor to oversee contract management and commercial control across legal and infrastructure projects. This role demands precision, legal acumen, and advanced QS expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
* Administer and manage complex construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT), ensuring strict compliance with terms and conditions
* Conduct cost management activities including budgeting, forecasting, and financial control from pre- to post-contract phases
* Prepare and review tender documentation, bills of quantities, cost plans, and commercial submissions
* Handle claims, variations, and dispute resolution with detailed contract analysis and stakeholder collaboration
* Provide legal insight and contractual advice, including risk assessment, contractual interpretations, and claims support
* Liaise with legal teams, contractors, and clients regarding contract terms, liabilities, and compliance
Required Qualifications & Competencies:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Commercial Management.
* Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS) or progression toward it is preferred
* Proven experience managing NEC or JCT contracts within construction or civil engineering projects
* Strong expertise in cost planning, forecasting, and contract risk identification.
* Experience in handling contract variations, settlements, and legal dispute mitigation.
* Excellent communication skills for managing relationships with legal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
Preferred (Desirable) Attributes:
* Experience working on legal or dispute-focused construction projects.
