This is an exceptional opportunity for a technically skilled professional who wants to make a tangible impact in water hygiene and compliance. The role offers the chance to work across a diverse range of sites throughout the UK, including commercial, industrial, public sector, and domestic environments, delivering high-quality risk assessments, providing expert compliance advice, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.

They are looking for someone who is confident taking ownership of their work, providing clear recommendations to clients, and building strong professional relationships. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys problem-solving on-site, and is passionate about helping clients achieve and maintain compliance with industry standards.
Role Overview
As a Legionella Risk Assessor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of client water systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve carrying out comprehensive Legionella risk assessments in line with ACoP L8, HSG274, and other relevant British Standards. You will survey hot and cold-water systems across a range of premises, from offices and retail units to healthcare and industrial facilities, assessing storage, distribution, and control measures to ensure compliance.
You will be expected to produce clear, detailed, and professional risk assessment reports that include actionable recommendations for remedial measures where required. Your ability to interpret and create schematic drawings of water systems, using software such as Visio or similar, will be essential to communicating findings effectively. Beyond the technical work, you will act as the main point of contact on-site, liaising with clients and site personnel to provide guidance, answer questions, and ensure compliance is fully understood and implemented.
This role also includes the opportunity to support business growth by identifying additional compliance needs or upselling opportunities during site visits, allowing you to make a direct impact on the organisation’s success. Maintaining and managing all necessary equipment, PPE, and tools, as well as keeping abreast of the latest legislation and industry best practice, will be critical to performing the role at the highest standard.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will hold a Legionella Risk Assessment qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent) and have prior experience carrying out risk assessments in commercial and/or domestic settings. A strong technical understanding of hot and cold-water systems, including storage, distribution, and control mechanisms, is essential, as is the ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and site layouts.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial, as you will be liaising directly with clients, providing clear advice, and producing high-quality reports. The role demands a self-motivated, organised professional capable of managing their own workload and travel commitments across the UK. A full UK driving licence is also required, as this role involves regular site visits.
The successful candidate will also possess strong problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining the highest professional standards. You will be confident in making on-site decisions, taking ownership of your assessments, and seeing tasks through to completion, ensuring clients receive practical and compliant solutions.
