Leisure Services Manager
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30 (flexibility and emergency cover required)
A well-established organisation is seeking a capable and experienced Leisure Services Manager to oversee the operation of two school-based leisure centres, including one with a swimming pool. This role requires a hands-on manager with a strong background in leisure services, facilities management, and health & safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day operation of two leisure centres, ensuring they meet commercial and health & safety objectives.
*
Lead and supervise the team, including Duty Managers, Swimming Instructors, Caretakers, and Leisure Assistants.
*
Ensure all activities comply with legal and health & safety regulations.
*
Maintain and improve quality systems and service standards.
*
Set, monitor, and manage budgets for income and expenditure.
*
Ensure all staff are appropriately trained and compliant with statutory requirements.
*
Immediately report and escalate any statutory or critical plant failures.
*
Oversee correct handling of cash receipts and disbursements.
*
Assist mechanical and electrical subcontractors when required.
*
Undertake ad-hoc maintenance duties, including plant room tasks.
Essential Requirements:
*
Previous experience managing leisure services in a large, multi-building environment (minimum two years).
*
Proven team leadership experience, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
*
In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and its practical application.
*
IOSH Managing Safely certification.
*
Technical competence in operating and maintaining pool plant equipment (ideally with Pool Plant Operator certification).
*
Full UK driving licence.
*
Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies outside standard working hours.

ENHANCED DBS
Qualifications Needed:
*
IWFM certification (Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management).
*
Legionella Management – Responsible Person qualification.
