Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and customer-oriented Lettings Officer to support a local authority based in the West Midlands. In this vital role, you will play a key part in the efficient letting of Council properties, ensuring that homes are let promptly, tenancies are sustainable, and rent loss is minimized. You will be responsible for coordinating and administering the re-letting process of empty Council homes in line with the Council's Allocations Policy and Home Choice Scheme. Your role will include contacting applicants, arranging and carrying out property viewings, preparing and completing tenancy sign-ups, and ensuring tenants understand their rights and responsibilities. Key responsibilities include: ·Managing the letting of Council properties within target timescales ·Processing tenancy terminations efficiently ·Working closely with the Allocations and Homelessness Teams to reduce void times ·Providing Housing Officers with key information to support sustainable tenancies ·Ensuring accurate records and documentation are maintained at all stages of the letting process This is a highly collaborative role requiring excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to customer service. You will be expected to understand and work within Part VI of the Housing Act 1996, applying Local Lettings Plans where appropriate, and ensuring the correct legal tenancy agreements are issued.
